Why I started Unprocessed

When I became a dad,
everything changed.

Suddenly, the ingredients list on the back of a product wasn’t just fine print — it was a question of trust. I wanted better for my child: real food, safe ingredients, no nonsense.

Around that time, my mother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. That shook something loose in me. I started reading. A lot. About pesticides, microplastics, and the link between ultra-processed foods and modern disease. The more I learned, the more I realized something simple:

We don’t need fancier food.
We just need food that hasn’t been tampered with.

Dolf Tiemens — Founder, Unprocessed

Unprocessed was born out of that idea — a return to basics, but guided by modern science. This isn’t about fear, trends, or supplements. It’s about stepping back into the kitchen, rolling up our sleeves, and taking care of our people the way we used to — by cooking.

This is for you if…

Sound familiar?

You read ingredient lists and feel like you need a chemistry degree.

You spend 20 minutes in the cereal aisle trying to find something that won’t poison your kids.

You suspect your non-stick pan is slowly killing you but don’t know what to buy instead.

You want to cook more but feel like you don’t have time to learn everything.

You’re tired of “healthy” options that cost twice as much for half the flavour.

You know you should eat less processed food but don’t know where to start.

If you nodded along to any of these, you’re in the right place.

You don’t need to become a nutritionist. You don’t need to spend thousands on new equipment. You just need someone to cut through the noise and show you exactly what matters — and what doesn’t.
